Their story dates way back to 2018 when one of the team members, Sarang, went on a usual drive for feeding his fostered pets. While doing so, he noticed that someone had already nurtured them with meat and that ‘someone’ happened to be Nilesh Khandagale. Whereas on the other hand, Nilesh happened to take a detour due to some issues and noticed five puppies sleeping outside a shop. They were given a covered cozy place, along with a water bowl and rugs to sleep on! After witnessing this, Nilesh realized that someone was looking after these puppies. And fortunately, these puppies became the core that introduced Sarang and Nilesh to each other. Since then, both joined forces and decided to work for the betterment of the stray animals. After a while, amid long discussions and research, they decided to initiate a shelter exclusively for strays. But due to personal commitments, this plan took a back foot, but their efforts continued. Just when these noble hearts were busy fostering the strays, Yogesh posted on Facebook about his pet that ran away and was looking for another one. That is when Sarang suggested he adopt a stray rather than going for a breed dog. And this comment from Sarang triggered a chain of discussions. Subsequently, Yogesh came up with a suggestion of creating a WhatsApp group for a common aim - HELPING THE STRAYS. The WhatsApp group was initiated by Yogesh, who then added Sarang. Furthermore, Sarang introduced Nilesh to the group. Hereafter, Sarang introduced his best friend (who also is his spouse) Pooja to the group. And the foundation of the organization was led. Their constant discussions turned fruitful, after which both Sarang and Nilesh shared their vision of starting a shelter home. Every member agreed, and the inception story of SAWO saw the light.
